FAQs

1. how much do design services cost?

Designs services can range in cost, but Beth Blinebury Design offers personal AND affordable solutions for print, branding and web. We utilize open source platforms to create unique projects so you can feel at ease knowing that your costs are for our design and development services and not for fancy-schmancy software. We NEVER overcharge you just because we can. Before contacting Beth Blinebury Design, think about a budget for your project and we will do our best to work within it. Website and web application projects are billed on a per project cost in most cases, so you’ll know the price up front before the work starts!

2. can beth blinebury design host my website?

Beth Blinebury Design does not host client websites. Our preference is that each client obtain and maintain their own domain registration and web hosting needs. Not sure what web hosting is? See faq #3 below.

3. what the heck is hosting? i have no idea what you’re talking about!

Every website needs a website address (the dot com/net/org) and a place to “live” (website hosting). Beth Blinebury Design can suggest domain registration and hosting providers. Once you purchase what you need, give us access and we’ll do the rest. You maintain the billing for your web hosting and you control your own domain name.

4. how long does it take for the average website to be designed and go “live” on the interwebs?

Wow, tricky question! This is difficult to estimate because every client’s project is unique. There are two major components to every website project. The first step is the design process. After getting to know you a bit, we will supply you with three distinct “looks” for your future website. From there we will keep fine-tuning the design until it’s just right. Our projects are not limited to some arbitrary number of design changes. We want you to be happy with your design and we want to show it off. So it’s a win-win!

The second step is the building process. We will build your website on our servers so that you can see what the site will look like and see how the site will actually work! During this building process, you will be busy getting all of the content ready for the site. Our clients supply all of the content for their websites (images, copy, downloadable files, etc.) We’re happy to help you decide where to put what and how to organize content!

So when all is said and done, the average small business website can take anywhere from 6 – 16 weeks to complete.

5. do i need a blog?

Sure! Blogging is a great way to drive traffic to your website while adding personality to your web presence. Recently we have been incorporating blog-style areas on many of our website projects so that our clients can dabble with blogging without making that “full blog” commitment.

6. will i be able to make changes to my website once it is online?

Yes! Isn’t that great? No more late night calls to the ol’ web designer asking her/him to change a date on your website. Our website projects utilize an easy-to-use content management system. You’ll have access to the website once it is “live” on the interwebs. You won’t, however, be able to alter the overall design of the website. That way our design retains its integrity but you get to keep your content up-to-date. Pretty cool, eh?

7. will you show me HOW to make changes to the website?

Another big YES! Once a website project is up on the web we will provide you with the training materials necessary to update the website yourself. We will provide you with an awesome PDF file full of screenshots of YOUR website with all of the specifics for adding pictures, editing content, adding pages, making a blog post and so on. For clients out of our area, we can also provide you with an online video tutorial to get you going. Our Philadelphia-area clients can opt for a one-on-one training session!

8. how much do you feed buckus?

Buckus really doesn’t eat that much! He eats 1 cup of Before Grain Salmon twice a day. He also enjoys frozen beef marrow bones and assorted treats. He once ate a giant turkey neck in a single sitting!
